Wenyen Gabriel is Staying in the NBA Draft
Kentucky sophomore forward Wenyen Gabriel announced his decision to remain in the 2018 NBA Draft. He made the announcement via his social media accounts on Wednesday.
To the best fans in the world, I couldn’t be more honored to have worn that Kentucky name across my chest for the past two years. It truly has been a blessing. To all those who have supported me, I just want to say thank you. My time here will never be forgotten… wish me well! pic.twitter.com/zpukdXMcf1

Gabriel pondered a return to Kentucky or a professional career the last two months. He is unlikely to be selected in the NBA Draft, but a path through the G-League or overseas are options.
The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds last season, but those numbers increased to 10.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in postseason play. In the final ten games of the season, Gabriel knocked down 19-of-35 three-point attempts for a 54.2 percent clip.
Gabriel’s decision won’t make sense to most people but sometimes guys just want to play professionally, even if that means overseas. He may not make millions of dollars, but Gabriel is good enough to earn money playing professionally.
Kentucky fans will always remember his 7-for-7 performance from long range in the SEC Tournament semi-final vs. Alabama.
