Tyrese Maxey is Recruiting Talent to Join him at Kentucky

Tyrese Maxey is Recruiting Keion Brooks the Hardest

When Tyrese Maxey committed to Kentucky in early May, he instantly became the lead recruiter for Kentucky’s 2019 recruiting class.

Maxey, a 6-3 combo guard from Garland, TX., is in Colorado this week for the USA Basketball U18 camp. The five-star guard has mentioned multiple times that he’s recruiting James Wiseman and others to join him at Kentucky, but Keion Brooks is the guy hearing from him the most.

Brooks, a 6-foot-8 five-star forward from Fort Wayne, IN., picked up an offer from Kentucky last fall. He told Go Big Blue Country during the EYBL session in Atlanta that Maxey is recruiting him to join him in Lexington.

“Every time he (Maxey) see’s me he says BBN or he’ll text me and say I’m next,” said Brooks. “Tyrese is doing a hell of a job recruiting me.”

Through 15 games at the Nike EYBL this spring, Brooks is averaging 21.5 points while shooting 47.6 percent from the field. Along with Maxey, Brooks has been one of the best players on the circuit.

In addition to the offer from Kentucky, Brooks holds offers from Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, Michigan, and Michigan State, among others.

Brooks plans to cut his list of schools soon and Kentucky will likely make the list.
