Tyrese Maxey Named SEC Freshman of the Week for Third Time

Kentucky freshman guard Tyrese Maxey has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for his performances vs. Georgia and Alabama.

The honor is the third of the season for Maxey, who won the award after scoring 26-points in the season opener vs. Michigan State and then for scoring a career-high 27 points vs. Louisville in Kentucky’s overtime win in late December.

Maxey was second on the team in scoring during Kentucky’s wins vs. Georgia and Alabama. The 6-foot-3 guard scored a game-high 17 points at Georgia. Additionally, he added a career high in assists (8) and blocks (4).
