Tyrese Maxey Continues to Collect Nike EYBL Honors

Five-star combo guard Tyrese Maxey is making a strong case for MVP of the Nike EYBL this summer.

The Kentucky commit took home another honor after being named first-team EYBL Atlanta on Thursday. It was the first session since Maxey announced his commitment to Kentucky.

Through four games in Atlanta, Maxey averaged 22.5 points, 4.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 51.4 percent from the field. His top performance came in the session opener, where scored 27 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and four steals.

D1 Circuit released the following about Maxey.

Kentucky fans were celebrating after Tyrese Maxey committed last week, and after his showing in Atlanta, we wouldn’t be surprised if the party is still in full force. Maxey put up four 20+ point scoring performances, averaging 22.5 points and 4.8 assists per game in three wins. Maxey consistently stuffs the stat-sheet, and does so at a highly-efficient rate; the 6-foot-4 combo guard shot 52.6 percent from the floor during session three. Maxey looks as comfortable as any guard in the league right now, and when he’s playing freely, he’s borderline unstoppable offensively. Like the rest of the players on this list, Maxey is a certified MVP candidate, and is a threat to land future EYBL and Peach Jam awards.

Maxey’s Houston Hoops team is now 9-3 as they head into session four next weekend in Hampton (VA.).
