Tyrese Maxey Commits to Kentucky

Elite Point Guard Tyrese Maxey Commits to Kentucky; Will Stay in 2019

John Calipari did it again, this time picking up a commitment from five-star Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey, a 6-foot-3, combo guard from Garland, TX., is rated the No. 13 overall player and No. 2 point guard in the 2019 class by the 247Sports Composite.

The product of South Garland High School announced his decision to attend Kentucky in a video posted to his Twitter account Wednesday evening. There has been a lot of speculation and noise about a possible reclassification to the 2018 class. However, Maxey will remain in 2019.

The UK commit leads the Nike EYBL circuit in scoring (24.0) and steals (2.9) through two sessions. Additionally, he knocked down 14 three-pointers in a four-game stretch in Indianapolis two weeks ago.

In addition to Maxey, the Wildcats already have 2019 commitments from D.J. Jeffries and Ashton Hagans. Hagans is likely to reclassify to 2018 in order to join the Wildcats this fall.
