Tyrese Maxey Advances to Final 4 of Preseason Player of the Year Voting

Kentucky freshman guard Tyrese Maxey advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA March Madness Preseason Player of the Year tournament.

The 6-foot-3 guard from Garland, TX., received the most votes in his matchup with Seton Hall’s Myles Powell. A total of 12,050 votes were submitted on Twitter this week with Maxey claiming 69 percent of them.

In the next round, Maxey will be matched up with Louisville’s Jordan Nwora, who advanced by Devon Dotson of Kansas.

The winner of Maxey/Nwora will either face Cassius Winson (Michigan State) or Markus Howard (Marquette) in the finals of the Preseason Player of the Year tournament. Andy Katz, an analyst and host of March Madness, put the list of 16 candidates together earlier this month.

Fans will have the opportunity to vote again in the next round. That link will be posted in a story as soon as it is made available.
