Kentucky basketball signee’s Tyler Herro and Keldon Johnson will play in Friday night’s Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Oregon. Herro and Johnson began practice for the event yesterday and their second practice was held earlier today.

After practice, Curtis Burch of Big Blue Insider interviewed Herro and Johnson about the possibility of Tyrese Maxey joining Kentucky’s already loaded backcourt for next season. Maxey told Kyle Tucker of SEC Country that he and Calipari have discussed the possibility of him reclassifying to 2018 and joining the Wildcats.

During the interview, Burch asked Herro about Maxey possibly joining the team next season. The future Wildcat agreed that he would welcome the more competition but he also thinks Kentucky already has a lot of guards.

“Right now, if Ashton reclassifies I think we have a lot of guards already,” Herro said. “That’s if Quade stays around and everyone stays around, I think we have a lot of guards already. That’s between him and Coach Cal, though.”

Johnson also offered his thoughts on Maxey, saying, “He’s a dynamic player-he’s really good. We would love to have him, whether its this year or next year.”
