The University of Kentucky announced on Thursday that three players were named to the Academic All-District. Those three players are Blake Best, Austin MacGinnis, and Charles Walker.

All three were named to the District 2 team, which includes their names being on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. The honor recognizes top student student-athletes for on-field performance and success in the classroom. Those honors will be announced in December.

Best, a junior from Duluth, Georgia, has served as the Wildcats’ long snapper on field goals and extra points. In addition to a 3.95-grade point average, Best has been named to Dean’s List on three occasions, as well as being a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

MacGinnis, a senior from Wedowee, Alabama, has had one of the most successful careers in UK football history. The senior kicker became the programs all-time leading scorer earlier this season and holds the record for the most field goals made, attempted, and the longest field goal made. He has already graduated with a degree in finance and is currently working on his master’s degree in business administration. Fans will always remember MacGinnis for his game-winning field goals vs. Mississippi State and Louisville in 2016.

Walker, a senior from Louisville, Kentucky, began his career as a walk-on before earning a scholarship later in his career. He has played the role of wide receiver and punt returner for Kentucky. Through ten games this season, he has 12 receptions for 134 yards, while averaging 17.2 yards per punt return with a long of 52 yards. Walker owns a 3.79-grade point average and is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll and Dean’s List member.
