Rhyne Howard put her name in the Kentucky women’s basketball record books Thursday night vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Howard tied the Kentucky women’s scoring record with 43 points as the Wildcats topped Alabama 81-71 in Tuscaloosa. Jennifer O’Neill scored 43 points in a four overtime thriller vs. Baylor in 2013.

The sophomore from Cleveland, Tennessee, connected on 14-of-21 field goal attempts, including 7-of-11 from three-point range. She also led the Wildcats with six rebounds and five steals.

Howard was fresh off a then career-high scoring performance vs. Tennessee, where she scored 37 points in the Wildcats win last Sunday.

Howard is the first Kentucky player to score at least 37 points in consecutive games and the first to have 25 points in five straight games.

Collectively, Kentucky made a school record 16 three-pointers vs. Alabama with six Wildcats knocking down a three-point basket.
