Reports: Nick Richards to Return to Kentucky for Sophomore Season

Kentucky freshman center Nick Richards will return to Kentucky for a sophomore season, per Jon Rothstein of CBS.

There was very little talk that Richards would declare for the NBA Draft and this decision shouldn’t be a surprise, but we very rarely get to announce that someone is returning. Richards should show tremendous improvement in his sophomore season.

Kentucky lost Sacha Killeya-Jones to transfer yesterday but picked up a commitment from five-star forward E.J. Montgomery Monday morning. P.J. Washington has already announced that he is testing the NBA waters but he is widely expected to return to Kentucky. That leaves Jarred Vanderbilt and Wenyen Gabriel as the only two frontcourt players remaining that haven’t announced any plans. Those will likely come soon, along with decisions from Hamidou Diallo and Quade Green.

Richards had his struggles this season but the upside is there. After averaging 5.1 points and 4.4 rebounds this season, the former five-star and McDonald’s All-American will look to take steps forward next season and at most, give John Calipari some experience.
