The Quade Green Transfer Speculation Continues

While guys are making their decisions about the NBA, it is yet to be announced what freshman guard Quade Green plans to do next season. In fact, things have been silent, which is actually led to even more speculation.

Green, a former five-star and McDonald’s All-American, isn’t believed to be pursuing a career professionally, but rumors of a possible transfer fired up following the commitment of five-star point guard Ashton Hagans. UK’s newest commitment is working on a reclassification to the 2018 class, which would give Kentucky three five-star point guards with Immanuel Quickley on the way.

As it stands, Green would be the only experienced guard on the Kentucky roster next season after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Hamidou Diallo both declared for the NBA Draft. If Green does indeed decide to move on, Kentucky’s backcourt would be just as young going into the new season, something nobody would’ve predicted when Gilgeous-Alexander and Green stepped foot on campus last fall.

If Green does decide to transfer, a few schools make sense. Villanova and Syracuse have both been mentioned as possible destinations if there is indeed a change of scenery. The Orange were on his list out of high school and he’s a Philadelphia kid. Now, there are reports that La Salle could be the landing spot.

According to Robert Snyder of NBC Sports Boston, a source tells him that if Green does decide to transfer, La Salle could be the landing spot. Ashley Howard, a former Villanova assistant and now the new head coach at La Salle, was Green’s primary recruiter when Villanova recruited him.

John Calipari’s pursuit of point guards, specifically Tyrese Maxey, makes you wonder if he already knows that Green is on the way out. Until Calipari adds another guard or Green makes an official announcement, I’d still like to think he returns to Kentucky for a sophomore season. Kentucky will need him next season and with roster turnover an annual thing, there’s going to be a season where he would dominate the point guard position.
