PJ Washington isn’t Rushing NBA Decision; Focus is on School

With the Final Four quickly approaching, it’s still hard to accept that Kentucky will not be in playing in San Antonio this weekend and if you’re like most Wildcat fans, the next few weeks will be the longest of the year.

The futures of so many players are up in the air the next couple of weeks, an annual thing when the season ends for any John Calipari team. One of those players that will have to make a tough decision is freshman forward PJ Washington but he’s in no hurry to make his decision.

Washington attended the GEICO Nationals on Thursday to watch his brother’s Findley Prep team in action. Washington’s father, Paul Washington Sr., coaches Findley Prep, so it’s an opportunity for the family to get together and communicate about what is next for Washington.

The UK forward did take time for an interview on ESPNU, where he said he is only focused on school for the next couple of weeks.

News broke on Tuesday that Washington played the final two months of the season with a broken left pinky finger and after watching film from January, it appeared the injury occurred during Kentucky’s home loss to Florida on January 20th. No announcement has been made on whether or not the injury will require surgery during the off-season.

After watching the interview, I say we are still a couple of weeks from an announcement regarding Washington’s future.
