EJ’s Dad doesn’t think he needs another year to showcase talent

We are still waiting on the first Kentucky player to announce their NBA decision and with the uncertainty surrounding the situation with the NBA Draft, we could be waiting a while.

EJ Montgomery’s dad did offer some thoughts to Jerry Tipton of the Herald-Leader this week.

In the interview with Tipton, Efrem Montgomery, EJ’s father, said his son did submit a request for evaluation from the NBA, but hasn’t received a response to the request.

“Teams are asking what he’s going to do,” Efrem Montgomery said. “That’s a good thing. That’s a plus.”

Montgomery could have a similar jump to what Nick Richards did this season if he were to return to Lexington for another year, but it sounds like we might not get the opportunity to see it.

“Just because he did other things to help his team win, and didn’t get to showcase his (offense), doesn’t mean he can’t do it,” Montgomery said about his son. “Why come back and waste a whole other year when you can already do those things anyway?”
