The University of Kentucky will honor the late UK quarterback Jared Lorenzen during Saturday’s game vs. Arkansas.

It’s only fitting that the Wildcats honor Lorenzen vs. the Razorbacks, as he put up one of the most memorable performances in UK history in a seven overtime thriller vs. the Hogs in 2003.

On that night 16 years ago, the UK Hall of Famer completed 28-of-49 passes for 326 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Additionally, he ran for 39 yards and three touchdowns, as the Wildcats came up short, 71-63.

When Lorenzen passed away earlier this year, the game to honor the UK legend was an easy choice when looking at the schedule. The October 12th matchup was circled and designated as Jared Lorenzen Day in Lexington.

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops says there will be no shortage of motivation when the Wildcats take the field for Saturday’s matchup. Not only due to the fact Kentucky has lost three consecutive games but he wants the team to know who they are playing for.

“That was the reason, why we decided to honor Jared in this game,” said Stoops. “Jared was exceptional in that game and we showed them the highlights from that game. I wanted them to be familiar with him and that game.”

In honor of Lorenzen’s jersey number, fans can use the promotional code “TWENTYTWO” at Ticketmaster.com to receive $22 off tickets for the Arkansas game. This offer is exclusively available online, while supplies last. In addition to the ticket discount, commemorative rally towels will be distributed at the gates for ticketed fans upon entry.

Kentucky and Arkansas will kick off Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. at Kroger Field with coverage on the SEC Network.
