Mark Stoops took the podium on Monday for his weekly press conference. The UK head coach provided an injury update on Charles Walker and also said Jordan Jones is out of action this Saturday. Stoops reflected on Eastern Michigan and previewed the week 6 matchup vs. Missouri.
Stoops: “Charles is banged up, we will have to see”
Stoops: “Protection was an issue, Stephen threw the ball well when he had time”
Stoops: “Any coach worries about how you play every week. I don’t mean to come off condescending about that. We are not always going to play our best football”
Stoops: “We did some very good things defensively and on special teams”
Stoops: “We have to find the right mix with the offensive line”
Stoops: “Eli has done some really good things”
Stoops: “Drake played good. He started slow. After that, he settled in and did some good things”
Stoops on comparing Josh Allen to Bud Dupree: “Bud was a bad dude”
Stoops: “Josh has the ability to take it to another level. He’s been very good in space”
Stoops on Josh Pascal: “He’s done a lot of things, He’s played defensive end, sam and jack linebacker, and interior defensive tackle.
Stoops says no confirmation on redshirting Nassir Watkins but it looks to be the plan.
Stoops: “We had a lot more three and outs on offense than we’d like”
