Stoops, UK Send Condolences to UofL after Passing of Dexter Rentz

Dexter Rentz Jr., a University of Louisville football signee, was killed Saturday night in a shooting in Florida.

A native of Florida, Rentz signed to play football for the Cardinals this fall. Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield released a statement Sunday.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dexter,” Satterfield said. “He was a great young man who had a contagious personality and was able to light up the room with his smile. He was a great kid to be around, and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Rentz family during this extremely difficult time.”

According to a report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, four people were shot with Rentz being the only victim not to survive.

The UK/UofL rivalry is a battle, but there is so much respect from each side when one is hurting. UofL offered support during the passing of Jared Lorenzen last summer, and Mark Stoops sent a message to Louisville on Sunday.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Louisville football program and the family of Dexter Rentz,” Stoops wrote on Twitter.

BBN, remember the Rentz family and Louisville football in your thoughts and prayers.
