Former Kentucky safety Marcus Walker was arrested on May 24th on drug trafficking charges.

In a search of a townhouse he shared, police found more than $95,000 cash belonging to Walker, along with 52.86 grams of suspected cocaine powder. Police also found more than 5 pounds of marijuana. Walker was later dismissed from the team.

Mark Stoops and the UK football staff hosted Kentucky Sports Radio this morning. Stoops addressed the situation with Walker for the first time.

“It’s very disappointing. I have 105 guys on the team and so many guys are doing so many good things. It makes me so proud of the things we’re accomplishing and the things we’re doing. These kids are like children to me, so anytime somebody does something like that, it’s very disappointing. It disappoints me because the only thing I can do is work unbelievably hard to put these kids in a position to be successful. To educate them, to help them. People in all areas of their life, we work extremely hard. Just like a parent would parent. You put them in the best situation you can. Sometimes they fail. When they fail, I’m very disappointed.

“It’s hurtful. It hurts our program and I’m disappointed that it happened and I’m going to work as hard as I’ve always worked to put our players in a position to be successful.”
