Maci Morris Continues her Strong Junior Season

Kentucky junior guard Maci Morris continued her strong junior season in a 79-71 win at Ole Miss on Thursday, leading the Wildcats with 20 points. It is the 18th time this season she has led the Wildcats in scoring.

It seems like every game Morris is achieving something that hasn’t been done in years at the University of Kentucky. Her 20 point game is the fifth consecutive game she has recorded 20+ points, making her the first UK player to accomplish that since Kim Denkins had 20 or more in seven consecutive games between December 8, 1995 to January 3, 1996.

Morris also continues to climb the scoring list, surpassing Karen Mosley (1,135) for 25th on the all-time scoring list with 1,149 career points. Additionally, she recorded a career high three steals vs. the Rebels.

Morris is on pace for a career year, averaging a career best 17.0 points per game while shooting a blistering 46.5 percent from three point range. The last time out, she recorded a career high 35 points in a loss at South Carolina, becoming just the third UK player to score 35 or more points in an SEC game.

Fans can catch Morris and the Cats in action again on Sunday at Memorial Coliseum, as they take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Noon ET. If you’re unable to attend, the game will be live on ESPNU.
