More than half the SEC is recruiting 2019 guard Kira Lewis

INDIANAPOLIS, In – Kira Lewis is a name to watch on the UK recruiting trail for 2019, and the Wildcats could extend a scholarship offer in the near future.

If you’re looking at the 2019 player rankings, Lewis isn’t near the top. However, that is due to change after he put on a show during the first two weeks of the Nike EYBL circuit.

Lewis, a 6-foot-3 guard, is the 96th best player in the 2019 class by 247Sports.

Through the first two sessions of the EYBL, Lewis is averaging 21.8 points and 3.4 assists to go along with a 40-percent clip from three-point range. Additionally, he ranks fourth on the circuit with 2.6 steals per game.

The Hazel Green, AL., native picked up an offer from Kansas on Sunday, in addition to offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Baylor, Connecticut, and Indiana, among others.

Lewis spoke with Go Big Blue Country during the EYBL in Indianapolis in late April, and he talked about the interest from UK.

“He (Kenny Payne) said he’s going to start picking up on me after last session,” said Lewis. “He said I was a great point guard, quick, and that I remind them of guards they have had in the past.”

More than half the SEC is involved in his recruitment now that Kentucky is calling. In Indianapolis, Lewis didn’t do anything to hurt his chances of earning an offer. The call from Kentucky excites him and he knows what going to Kentucky would mean for his future.

“It’s a great school. They put guys in the league and it’s always good hearing from a blue blood.”

Lewis and the Georgia Stars will be back in action this weekend during session three of the Nike EYBL in Atlanta.
