The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will have a lot of new faces taking the floor when the season begins but that didn’t stop them from receiving votes for the top 25.

Kentucky, who will replace key departures Makayla Epps and Evelyn Akhator, received votes in both the Preseason Associated Press and Coaches’ Poll. The Wildcats are slotted at 28th in the Coaches Poll with a total of 59 votes. They just missed being ranked in the AP Poll at No. 26, receiving a total of 42 votes.

The Wildcats will be put to the test, as they face 16 teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in the polls. A total of 9 ranked opponents await Kentucky, including dates with Baylor, South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Louisville, who are all ranked in the top ten.

In addition to ranked teams, the Wildcats also play LSU, Florida, Alabama, Florida Gulf Coast, and Middle Tennessee State, who are receiving votes in the polls.

Fans will get their first look at the Wildcats this Sunday in an exhibition matchup vs. Southern Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Memorial Coliseum. Kentucky will officially open the season on Friday, November 10th vs. Sacramento State at 7 p.m. ET. The season opener will be broadcast on the SEC Network+
