Kentucky on the Move in Tyler Herro’s Crystal Ball

Tyler Herro, a four-star guard in the 2018 class, decommitted from Wisconsin on Tuesday. The native of Greenfield, Wisconsin, originally committed to the Badgers in September 2016, but thanks to improvement on and off the floor, he will explore all his options before deciding on a school. Immediately following his decision, Evan Flood of 247 Sports tweeted that he expected Kentucky to be involved in his recruitment and it now appears the Wildcats have some momentum.

If you visit his 247 Sports Crystal Ball, you will see that the Wildcats have picked up the last three predictions. The last of those predictions came via Jerry Meyer, who added that Herro is in search of an offer from Kentucky and Duke.

Herro has a wide range of rankings when it comes to his position in the 2018 class. Rivals and Scout rank the four-star guard No. 40 in the 2018 class, while 247 Sports slots him at No. 38 overall. ESPN ranks him the highest at No. 27.

Calipari is targeting guards rated much higher than Herro, but at 6-6, he has the size that the UK coach likes on the perimeter. He currently holds offers from Arizona, Florida, and Indiana. This may come down to a battle of the bluebloods, as Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, and Arizona are all expected to be involved.

With wing targets like R.J. Barrett, Keldon Johnson, Darius Garland, and Quentin Grimes holding a UK offer, it will be interesting to see if Calipari extends one to Herro. Regardless, it expands Calipari’s options; as the Wildcats are still searching for a two guard to play alongside five-star Immanuel Quickley.
