Kentucky Lands in Loaded East Region in Latest ESPN Bracketology

We are less than 18 hours until the NCAA tournament field will be revealed but Joe Lunardi is providing his last-minute tournament updates. A lot happened around college basketball today as a couple of mid-major schools were upset in their conference tournament finals, which led to some changes in the bracket.

Lunardi still has the Wildcats as a No. 5 seed in Boise but he has moved them to the East region, which will be played in Boston if the Wildcats advance beyond the first weekend. The Wildcats first opponent would be the Marshall Thundering Herd, who knocked off Western Kentucky in the Conference USA finals on Saturday.

Joining Kentucky in Boise in this latest update is fellow in-state school Murray State as the No. 13 seed and the West Virginia Mountaineers at No. 4. If Kentucky gets past Marshall, they would play the winner of Murray State and West Virginia in the second round. WVU isn’t an ideal second-round matchup but of course, the committee always finds a way to match Huggins and Calipari during the postseason.

If this bracket is correct, the top three seeds in the East are No. 1 Villanova, No. 2 Duke, and No. 3 Michigan State. No thanks, Lunardi.
