Jaemyn Brakefield is Another Sophomore that is Hearing from Kentucky

West Virginia Five-Star Jaemyn Brakefield has Already Visited UK Twice

The 2020 recruiting class is still three seasons away from college basketball, but John Calipari is showing that he is getting a leg up in the race for some of the best high school sophomores in the country.

The UK head coach has already extended offers to 2020 five-stars Scottie Barnes and N’Faly Dante. Now, Jaemyn Brakefield, the top player from West Virginia, could be the next name to add to that list.

According to Dan McDonald of Rivals, Kentucky is starting to enter the mix and UK assistant coach Joel Justus was in Atlanta to watch him on the Adidas Gauntlet over the weekend.

“They just keep telling me to keep working and keep getting better,” Brakefield told Rivals. “They haven’t offered yet. I’ve been there a few times and it’s pretty nice.”

Brakefield, a 6-foot-8, 205-pound power forward from Huntington, WV, is ranked the No. 15 overall player in 2020 class by Rivals while 247Sports has him listed at No. 16.

He is yet to receive an offer from Kentucky but the Wildcats are already the favorite to land him. He does have a total of 12 offers that includes Baylor, Georgetown, Illinois, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and UCLA among others.
