ESPN Releases Final Player Rankings for the 2018 Class

In addition to Rivals releasing their final list of player rankings for the 2018 class on Monday, ESPN unveiled theirs on Tuesday.

All four UK signees are ranked inside the top thirty. Keldon Johnson, E.J. Montgomery, and Immanuel Quickley earn five-star rankings while Tyler Herro is the lone four-star of the class.

Johnson, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Oak Hill Academy, is Kentucky’s highest rated recruit in the ESPN rankings, finishing at No. 7 overall. The class is loaded with small forwards but Johnson is No. 4 overall at his position behind R.J. Barrett, Cam Reddish, and Nassir Little.

New UK commit E.J. Montgomery is the Wildcats second highest rated prospect, coming in at No. 14 overall. The Wheeler High School senior committed to John Calipari on April 9th. He is the 5th best power forward in the class.

Kentucky’s point guard signee, Immanuel Quickley, is ranked the No. 24 overall prospect and 5th best point guard in the 2018 class. Don’t let that ranking fool you, ESPN wasn’t high on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander last spring.

Wrapping up the class for Kentucky is shooting guard Tyler Herro, who finishes as the No. 28 overall prospect in the class. The Whitnall High School senior is the 4th best shooting guard according to the position rankings. Earlier on Tuesday, Paul Biancardi listed him as the No. 3 best shooter in the entire 2018 class.

As for 2019, Kentucky already has commitments from two of the top twenty prospects. D.J. Jeffries at No. 17 and Ashton Hagans at No. 18 is a good start for 2019, but Hagans likely reclassifies to join the 2018 class.
