The Kentucky Wildcats took a break from SEC play and hosted the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks at Cliff Hagan Stadium on Tuesday night. Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the game was bumped up from its planned date on Wednesday.

It was a weird night for the Bat Cats, who jumped out to a 10-0 lead after six innings but had to hang on after Miami (Ohio) scored 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning. The Wildcats were able to settle in and close the door on the Redhawks, 13-7.

Offensively, six Wildcats recorded hits with three recording multi-hit efforts. Ben Aklinski (3-4, RBI) and Ryan Johnson (4-5, 2-RBI) led Kentucky with a total of seven hits and three RBI. Left fielder Tristan Pompey added two hits and an RBI double for his 41st multi-hit effort of his career. Additionally, second baseman Luke Becker recorded a 2-RBI double off the high wall in right field while Trey Dawson and Luke Heyer added RBI singles.

On the mound, Daniel Harper posted his longest outing of his career, tossing six scoreless innings. Harper scattered three hits across 21 batters, striking out six while only walking one. After a shaky start to the seventh, Carson Coleman came on to record four outs and Jimmy Ramsey closed things out with a perfect ninth.

Kentucky moves to 18-7 overall and will return to SEC play with a three game series beginning at Alabama on Friday. The Wildcats will be back at The Cliff next Tuesday, where they will face in-state rival Louisville at 6:30 p.m. ET.
