Kentucky and Indiana Going Head to Head on the Recruiting Trail

The Kentucky Wildcats and Indiana Hoosiers no longer play each other during the regular season but the rivalry appears to have a recruiting battle boiling for 2019.

Indiana star Keion Brooks is a coveted prospect for John Calipari and Archie Miller, and for good reason. Brooks is rated a five-star prospect and No. 16 overall player by 247Sports, while Rivals lists him as a four-star and No. 35 overall.

The 6-foot-8 small forward attends North Side High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He plays for the Spiece Indy Heat on the Nike EYBL circuit, which will have session two in Indianapolis this weekend. Both Calipari and Miller will likely be in attendance to watch. He dropped 33 points in front of Calipari last week in a win vs. UK target Vernon Carey Jr.

According to Cory Evans of Rivals, Brooks will likely decide between Kentucky and Indiana, as both are believed to be frontrunners to land him for 2019.

One thing working in favor for Indiana is a fellow in-state star and AAU teammate, Trayce Jackson-Davis. Brooks and Jackson-Davis are the top two players in the state of Indiana for 2019 and the Hoosiers have made them both priorities. If the duo is going to play together in college, it would have to happen in Bloomington.

That said; don’t expect Calipari to back off. He had an in-home visit with Brooks during the spring recruiting period. Check out highlights of Brooks from last weeks EYBL session by clicking the link below. Calipari is seated directly under the basket on the right side of the screen.

Brooks also spoke to Cats Illustrated about his recruitment in the following video.
