Kentucky women’s basketball coach Matthew Mitchell addressed the media today and had some unfortunate news to announce.

During Sunday’s exhibition victory vs. Southern Indiana, junior forward Ogechi Anyagaligbo suffered an injury that has turned out to be torn ACL. Mitchell announced that the UK forward would miss the entire 2017-2018 season.

Anyagaligbo transferred to Kentucky from Stony Brook, where she won the 2015-2016 America East Conference Rookie of the Year after averaging 10.1 points and 9.0 rebounds as a freshman.

The news is unfortunate after she sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. She practiced with the team and was positioned to be a big part of the Wildcats success this season.

Kentucky will be forced to look elsewhere this season but the Mitchell is planning on going deep into his bench. Best wishes to Ogechi as she begins her long road back to the basketball floor.
