John Calipari saw a Gym Full of Players on Monday Night
Kentucky coach John Calipari has already said that his most successful teams at Kentucky have included a mixture of returning players and talented freshmen.
While Calipari’s statement is true, his teams that spend extra time in the gym are the ones that have looked unstoppable on the court. Calipari’s most recent team didn’t buy into the extra work until they noticed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander working his way into a lottery pick in the Draft. Gilgeous-Alexander began working out with Joel Justus early each morning which led to the entire team following his leadership late in the season.
Good news for Calipari is this team seems to understand how hard they have to work and it comes from having PJ Washington, Quade Green, and Nick Richards back for their sophomore seasons. John Calipari was happy when he pulled into the Joe Craft Center parking lot Monday evening.
Makes me happy when I’m pulling in my office at 10 p.m. and the facility lights are on. Guys are working!l already!!! pic.twitter.com/NhcaYAOFQC

What Calipari saw was the Joe Craft Center lights on and the gym full of players. Freshman guard Immanuel Quickley posted a video to his Instagram story that showed the entire team working out close to midnight. The late night didn’t keep Quickley from being back in the gym before 7 a.m.
Immanuel Quickley’s Instagram story showed the team in the gym last night at 11:27 p.m. and Quickley was back this morning before 7 a.m. I’m not pumping the brakes on this one because I get the feeling this will be a special group. pic.twitter.com/fpOxPKa0G8
