John Calipari Provided Moment of Happiness for a Grieving Mother

Photo | Tabatha Vail

During the darkest time of Tabatha Vail’s life, John Calipari found a way to turn her tears of sadness into happier ones.

Vail’s son, Taylon Vail, was killed by stray bullets in a drive by shooting in April. He was 16 years old.

His dream was to earn a scholarship to play for John Calipari at the University of Kentucky. Three weeks after his death, Calipari made sure the dream came true for the family in a beautiful Mother’s Day surprise.

Drew Hill of the Memphis Commercial Appeal put together the wonderful story that you can read at the link below.
