James Wiseman is Hearing from Tyrese Maxey about Kentucky

Tyrese Maxey is Recruiting James Wiseman to Join Big Blue Nation

EMERSON, Ga – Tyrese Maxey announced his commitment to Kentucky earlier this week and he’s already recruiting more talent to join him in Lexington.

Ranked the No. 13 player and No. 2 point guard in his class, Maxey leads the Nike circuit in points (24.0) and steals (2.9). Additionally, he is averaging 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists to go along with a 36.5 percent three-point percentage. He connected on 14-of-30 attempts during the EYBL session in Indianapolis.

James Wiseman, the nation’s No. 1 player for 2019, is at the top of that list. The 6-foot-11 big man told Kyle Tucker during the EYBL session in Indianapolis that Maxey and UK commit Ashton Hagans are two players he would like to play with in college.

With Maxey announcing that he will stay in the 2019 class (for now), Kentucky’s chances of landing Wiseman strengthen. Not only that, but Wiseman’s AAU teammate, D.J. Jeffries, is already committed to Kentucky for 2019.

When Maxey announced that he plans to stay put and not reclassify, he did so because he wants to become a McDonald’s All-American while helping piece together a recruiting class. He’s already reaching out to Wiseman about Kentucky.

“He’s telling me to come to Big Blue Nation and stuff like that,” said Wiseman. “He’s been recruiting me a lot on Twitter.”

Kentucky and Memphis are the frontrunners to land the Memphis East High School big man, but he insists that other schools are in the mix, specifically Kansas and North Carolina. Memphis and Kentucky are locks to receive visits, but he added that North Carolina, Kansas, and Vanderbilt could round out the five he can take. As for when a decision will be made, he’s still just taking everything in.

“I’m still thinking about it and just trusting the process. I’m truly just sitting down with my mom to think about it and talk about it.”

Even though he’s nowhere close to making a decision, something tells me Maxey will be in his ear about coming to Kentucky often.
