Report: DeAndre Williams will Decide Friday; Kentucky Still in Contention

Evansville transfer DeAndre Williams will announce his commitment on Friday, according to Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio.

Williams mentor, Kenny Roy, tells Pilgrim that Kentucky remains in contention for the 6-foot-9 transfer, despite reports that Kentucky had backed away in recent days. Roy also told Go Big Blue Country Wednesday night that Kentucky is an option for Williams.

Williams will choose between Kentucky, Arkansas, Baylor, and Memphis when he makes his decision Friday.

Kentucky currently has two scholarships remaining for the 2020-21 season. Only nine scholarship players are for sure eligible heading into next season. Transfers Olivier Sarr and Jacob Toppin will require a waiver to play during the 2020-21 season. If Williams commits to Kentucky, he would require the same to be ruled eligible.

For what it’s worth, I’d be surprised if Kentucky is the choice on Friday. My prediction is Memphis, but you never know.
