Former Louisville Guard Donovan Mitchell is Impressed with Maxey

Kentucky freshman guard Tyrese Maxey put on a show Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in Kentucky’s 69-62 win vs. the top ranked Michigan State Spartans.

The UK freshman scored 26 points, the most by a freshman in their debut in Kentucky basketball history. Maxey also became the first Kentucky freshman to score 20+ points in a game vs. the top ranked team in the AP Poll.

It took one game for Maxey to arrive on the national scene and everyone is taking notice, including former Louisville Cardinal and current Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell took to Twitter to talk about Maxey and his performance in the season opener. While he knows it’s against the rules for a Louisville player to say something positive about a Wildcat, he saluted Maxey for his performance.
