To this point, the story of the NBA Playoffs has been the play of former Kentucky Wildcats, especially New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis.
Davis and the Pelicans swept the Portland Trail Blazers and now await the winner of Golden State/San Antonio in the second round. The former No. 1 pick has been playing like an MVP since DeMarcus Cousins season came to an end with a ruptured Achilles prior to the All-Star break, but he has elevated his play in the postseason.
In the four wins, Davis averaged 33.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.75 blocks, and 1.75 steals. Additionally, former Wildcats Rajon Rondo and Darius Miller also made significant impacts.
Davis and the Pelicans played so well that ESPN’s Dick Vitale believes he is the best young player in the NBA right now. It’s hard to disagree with Vitale because Davis is playing at a level that nobody is matching.
Wow @KentuckyMBB sweeps @trailblazers @AntDavis23 is the # 1 young player in @NBA His 47 was a masterpiece & @RajonRondo is a amagician passing The Rock ! Give it up for @Pelicans @johnclayiv @espnVshow @KySportsRadio @vaughtsviews

Not to be outdone, former UK point guard John Wall made sure his highlights made SportsCenter on Sunday. The Washington Wizards guard scored 27 points and dished out 14 assists to help the Wizards tie the series with the Toronto Raptors at 2-2.
After praising Davis and Rondo for Saturday’s strong performance, Vitale did the same for Wall.
