Denzil Ware named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Denzil Ware, a junior defensive end, has been named Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week following his performance vs. Southern Miss last Saturday.

Ware totaled two tackles, one for a loss, but his biggest impact was recovering two fumbles. During the 3rd quarter on Saturday, junior Darius West made a tackle that resulted in a fumble, which was picked up and returned for a 20-yard score by Ware. The touchdown extended the Cats lead to 24-10 and allowed them to hang on for a 24-17 victory. The UK junior also added a sack.

Prior to the season, Ware was a Preseason All-SEC Second Team selection. Something tells me this won’t be the last honor he receives this season, as you can expect to see him in the backfield all season.
