CBS Sports Updates NCAA Tournament Projections

Take NCAA projections with a grain of salt but with Selection Sunday quickly approaching, you can get a general idea of where Kentucky stands at the moment.

Joe Lunardi of ESPN will release his updated projections on Monday but CBS Sports released theirs early Sunday morning, projecting Kentucky as the No. 5 seed in the East Region. The East regional will be played in Atlanta but Kentucky would spend the first weekend of the tournament in Boise, not an ideal spot for the Big Blue Nation’s travel plans.

Kentucky would face the winner of the First Four matchup between Texas and Southern Cal, who would then be the No. 12 seed. The Wildcats would then move on to play the winner of Ohio State and Murray State in the second round, before a possible matchup with Villanova in the Sweet Sixteen. Joining the Wildcats in the East Region would be Duke (No. 2), Tennessee (No. 3), and Florida (No. 10).

I would trust Lunardi’s projections more but if Kentucky continues to win and finishes the season strong, I don’t see them being sent to Boise or San Diego. Kentucky has great opportunities to continue climbing the ladder.
