Calipari Visits No. 1 Recruit

John Calipari has been all over the country visiting his top 2018 targets and keying in on the 2019 class. The UK head coach kept that trend going today with a visit to the No. 1 player in the 2018 class. According to Corey Evans of Rivals, Calipari stopped in to see R.J. Barrett. The nations No. 1 player heads to Arizona for an official visit tonight, so it appears that Calipari wanted to remind him of his Wildcats before he visits the group of Wildcats out West.

Barrett has already officially visited Kentucky and Duke, with the Blue Devils the popular pick to land the 6-6 forward. However, a recent trend in the 247 Sports crystal ball (which means absolutely nothing) has the Wildcats picking up four of the last five predictions.

This weekend will be a big recruiting weekend for the Wildcats, as the football program hosts the Florida Gators. An electric environment will exist in Lexington all weekend, coupled with the UK Athletics Hall of Fame induction on Friday evening.

In addition to visiting Barrett, Calipari will return to Lexington to host another high-profile recruit in Zion Williamson. The high school YouTube sensation will be on campus this weekend and it is the perfect time for a visit. John Wall will be inducted into the Hall of Fame and rumors are flying around that Drake will make a surprise appearance.

Concerns have been expressed about recent five-star prospects selecting Duke, leaving fans wondering if Calipari is losing his touch. That is not the case and the ball will get rolling with the 2018 class very soon. Immanuel Quickley, the Wildcats top point guard target, is nearing a decision and that could come at any time. Expect Calipari to have three to four names inked during the early signing period.
