John Calipari has been on a mission the last few weeks but the spring recruiting period is coming to a close this week. Before that happens, Calipari has in-home visits with the top two players in the 2019 class.
There were talks for a while that Wiseman could reclassify to 2018 but his mother ended those talks last week when she told SEC Country that she can’t imagine him leaving her so soon. Wiseman will also remain at Memphis East High School for his senior season, rather than attending prep school.
Wiseman loves Kentucky and Calipari but the Memphis Tigers are a factor in his recruitment. The 6-foot-11 center played for AAU for Penny Hardaway, the new head coach at Memphis. His mother told SEC Country on Friday that her son has added the Tigers to his list.
As for Carey, Monday’s visit will mark the second meeting between he and Calipari this spring. The two had an in-home visit last week and Monday’s visit means Calipari is applying the full court press before the dead period arrives on April 18th.
Even after the dead period begins, Calipari and other coaches will have periods for evaluation. The first evaluation period will run April 20-22 for the first weekend of the Nike EYBL in Dallas, Texas. You can find the summer recruiting schedule coaches have to follow below.

(2) July 18 (5 p.m.) – 22 (5 p.m.): Evaluation Period
(3) July 25 (5 p.m.) – 29 (5 p.m.): Evaluation Period
