Kentucky’s Autumn Humes Named SEC Pitcher of the Week


Kentucky junior Autumn Humes has been named SEC Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.


Humes was dominant in the Wildcats SEC opening sweep of No. 11 South Carolina in Columbia.


The junior threw a complete-game shutout in the series opener on Friday and followed that with a save on Sunday to complete the sweep of the Gamecocks.



Humes tossed 8.2 scoreless innings in the series, allowing just three hits. She struck out five in Friday’s win and retired five of six batters she faced in Sunday’s save.


The Wildcats host Miami University tonight at John Cropp Stadium for the home opener. Frist pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
