Kentucky freshman guard Ashton Hagans recorded eight steals in an 80-72 win vs. North Carolina at the United Center, tying a single-game UK record.

Hagans was initially credited with seven steals but after reviewing a play, game officials ruled that he finished with eight. The number ties Rajon Rondo and Wayne Turner for the most steals in a single game.

Rondo was the last UK player to reach eight steals, doing so in a win vs. Mississippi State in 2005. Prior to that, Turner owned the record with eight vs. George Washington in 1997.

In addition to his eight steals, Hagans finished with seven points, four rebounds, and three assists.
