Kentucky freshman guard Ashton Hagans is superstitious when it comes to the shoes he wears when the Wildcats take the basketball court. So superstitious that he always takes two pair to each game.
Everyone remembers the customized L’s down shoes Hagans planned to wear at Louisville. After a misunderstanding about the color of his leggings under his shorts, Hagans thought officials were forcing him to change shoes, so he did.
Ashton Hagans’s shoes are the greatest shoes in the history of footwear.
Every UK championship is referenced by year, and he also has L’s down with Mickey Mouse hands.

That’s not the first time Hagans has changed his choice. I’m sure very few people notice this but Hagans changed shoes midway through the first half in Tuesday’s win vs. South Carolina. Hagans started the game wearing the black self-lacing Nike Adapt BB shoes, but changed into a white pair after a few minutes.

Hagans said on the “Behind Kentucky Basketball” podcast with TJ Beisner and Joel Justus that he changes shoes throughout the game if he feels out of sync.
If you listened to the “Behind Kentucky Basketball” podcast this week, you heard Ashton Hagans say he switches shoes mid-game if he feels out of sync.
He had a new pair of shoes on when he checked in just now.
