Ashley Dusek Named SEC Player of the Week

Kentucky senior libero Ashley Dusek has been named SEC Player of the Week for her performances in a sweep of the state of Alabama.

 

Dusek and the Wildcats defeated Alabama 3-1 on Wednesday evening and followed that with a 3-0 sweep of Auburn on Sunday afternoon. In the process, Dusek has been tabbed with SEC Player of the Week honors.

 

The UK senior recorded a season-high 28 digs vs. Alabama and followed that with 22 vs. Auburn for a two-match total of 50. Her previous match-high on for the season was 18 vs. Marquette. In addition, Dusek also totaled 9 assists with four vs. Alabama and five vs. Auburn.

 

Defensively, Dusek is the heart and soul of the Wildcats and her senior leadership has been valuable for coach Craig Skinner. The Wildcats are 22-3 on the season, including a 13-1 record in SEC play.

 

Dusek and the Wildcats return to action at home vs. Georgia on Friday, November 17. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. ET at Memorial Coliseum.
