Tennessee’s Admiral Schofield Respects Kentucky

Kentucky’s non-conference schedule is loaded with elite programs such as Duke, Kansas, and North Carolina, but the best team on Kentucky’s schedule could be in the SEC.

The Tennessee Volunteers return everyone from last season’s SEC co-champion club and their poised for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

The Cats and Vols will battle twice in the regular season and both should be entertaining matchups. Kentucky is in need of a serious SEC rival because when you look through the league, there hasn’t been that one team that has consistently challenged Kentucky. It’s always been someone different but under Rick Barnes, Tennessee could be that program.

During SEC Media Day, Tennessee senior Admiral Schofield was asked if Kentucky is a rivalry game and his answer was one of the most respectful responses you will hear.

“It’s definitely a rivalry,” said Schofield. “We respect Kentucky. At the end of the day, they’re picked first in our league because of their stature. I mean, they’re all freshman but they win. They have won championships. For us, we’re still striving to get to that point.”

Why does Tennessee have to have a player that I really like?
