Go Big Blue Country launched in November 2017 as a hobby for Shawn Smith, who is the editor for the website. Little did Smith know the website would quickly gain popularity and become one of the states most popular sources for University of Kentucky news. Smith is a 2017 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, where he earned a degree in Education and an endorsement in Social Studies. He was born in Middlesboro, KY., where he still currently resides. Smith became a fan of the Wildcats at a young age in 1996. In addition to the website, he created the Go Big Blue Country Podcast that is unlike any other you will find. The first few episodes consisted of UK news, but he then got the idea to interview national media members and former Kentucky Wildcat athletes. The Podcast made its debut in March 2017 and it continues to be one of the most popular things about Go Big Blue Country. You can follow Smith on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @gbbcountry, or reach him via email at gobigbluecountry@gmail.com

The images you see on the website are taken by Keyli Chisesi. Chisesi is a native of Colorado Springs, CO., but grew up in Chicago, IL. She met Smith during their time at Lincoln Memorial University. She is a 2017 graduate of LMU, where she earned a degree in Education and she teaches in Claiborne County, Tennessee. She currently resides in Middlesboro, KY., and her love for the Wildcats grows every day. In addition to taking photos, she helps Smith run the daily operations of Go Big Blue Country.

All website updates are handled by Geremiah Holbrook, who is Smith’s childhood friend. In early January 2017, Go Big Blue Country received an increase in website traffic, which resulted in having to switch hosts. Holbrook designed an entire new Go Big Blue Country that remains to be the active theme of the website. Holbrook and Smith attended the same elementary school and remained close after graduation. When there is an issue with the website, he is quick to troubleshoot and have the site up and running. Holbrook spent a few summers working for a security company but is now a popular seller on Amazon. He spends most of his time traveling around the South and operating his own business.
