John Calipari is pulling double duty for the Wildcats trip to Texas A&M this weekend, as he stopped in to see one of his top targets for the 2019 class last night.
The UK head coach made a stop in Garland, TX., to see shooting guard Tyrese Maxey. The 6-3, 185lb guard unofficially visited Kentucky for Big Blue Madness in October, where he received an offer from the Wildcats.

What Calipari saw on Friday night didn’t disappoint, as Maxey nearly posted a triple-double vs. the fifth-ranked 6A team in the state of Texas. Rated the second-best point guard and No. 13 player in the 2019 class by 247 Sports, Maxey scored 28 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out 8 assists, and buried seven three-pointers in a 75-50 win on Friday.
In addition to Kentucky, Maxey holds offers from 19 schools, including Arizona State, Baylor, Michigan State, Florida State, SMU, Oklahoma, and UCLA just to name a few. SMU, who currently holds a significant lead in his 247 Sports crystal ball, is believed to be the biggest competition for the Wildcats.
